Listerine Clean

Saturday AM was a wonderful morning to run the Freshburst Listerine 5M Run / 5K Walk in LTZ. And that's what I did, clocking in at a tempered 46:33 [/cue The Price Is Right loser horn]. Yes, that is +4:30 from last year. Boo... me. But not for nothing, I've been suffering from an aggravating shin splint for the last two weeks.

I also admit that I relied way too much on the treadmill and started road training way too late. Live and learn.

To add salt to the proverbial wound, Meredith Jorgensen was absent this year. WGAL represented, however, in the form of one Dr. John Scala. That guy is a pro's pro, completing the race in 33:29 and finishing 36th overall and 1st in his age bracket (50-59, fyi).

On a positive note, I had the coolest shoes of all runners. And how clutch is that The Price Is Right sound effect?!?

Just Like That

Sorry, I caught a groundbreaking Ric Flair mash-up on the YouTube a few months back and the hook has re-infiltrated my brain.

-----

It's about that time again. Two weeks from Saturday, I will be participating in my favorite race - the Running Listerine Bottles 5-mile Run (or, the Freshburst Listerine 5M Run/5K Walk). It's the running bottles that make it so fun.

Last year, I clocked in at 44:10 42:03 and beat WGAL personality Meredith Jorgensen. My goal this year is to duplicate or improve my time, and... beat Jorgensen!

Afterwards, LRK and I will check out the gift bag and help ourselves to some Turkey Hill iced tea and other assorted goodies. Good times!

+ Speaking of, I'll have to ask country aficionado LRK for thoughts regarding the upcoming Jessica Simpson country album. I'd say, J. Simpson > Jewel.

+ New poll is up. Vote, if you're so inclined.

Fresh Burstin' Through

I successfully completed my first 5-mile race - the Fresh Burst 5-Mile Listerine Run - in LTZ Saturday. I clocked my best ever time running 5 miles, finishing in 42:03. Overall, I placed 192 out of 400 runners. So, I ran pretty much how I wanted to perform (under 50 minutes, middle-of-the-pack finish).

I was who I thought I was!

Interesting note - WGAL Channel 8 News personality Meredith Jorgensen was in attendance. She was geared up like a running veteran, so I thought if I could keep pace with her, I'd be in good shape. However, I caught up to her within the first mile and pretty easily blew by her. Jorgensen ended up finishing 4:01 behind me. Although, she did wave at LRH and me as we headed to my car afterwords. So, props to Jorgensen.

See you next year, Fresh Burst 5-Mile Listerine Run!

I Did It

This morning at F&M, I ran 5.3 miles.

Not for nothing, but I clocked in at 47:38.

Yep, it's a holiday. Anything is getting posted today.

Tomorrow will bring my celebration of ZShare and my Shrek the Third movie commentary.

The OfficeCon

Angela and Kevin were in Scranton on Saturday and I was not aware?? On another note, anyone interested in going to The Office Convention in Scranton Oct. 26-28? I imagine it will be worth waiting for and very satisfying.

[...that's what she said!]

Seriously, I'm planning on heading up to Electric City for at least a day.

Woohoo! I officially sent in my registration tonight for the Fresh Burst Listerine 5-Mile run/5K walk. You know, the event with the racing Listerine bottles logo I like. In the past, I opted to walk the 5K. This always frustrated me, although I freely admit I wouldn't have been able to run the three or five miles. Well this year I am flipping the script. I'm going to run the five miles. I am relishing the training and really excited and looking forward to the event. My (modest) goal is to run the five miles in under 50 minutes. Hopefully my friend A-Philly and her boyfriend will be there to run with me.
