Borrowers Buzzkill

The Baby Borrowers season finale aired last night. Spoiler alert - but all five couples ended up splitting up! What the heck, NBC?! I guess it was expected the experiment might cause a few couples to call it quits (one pair split during the show), but 5-for-5 in break-ups was a total buzzkill.

Overall, the series was very entertaining. I just wish one of those kids would have made it.

+ Comcast is dangling a free Wii to anyone who will ground into their "Triple Play" package. Puns! I would give up my Wii for the ability to experience the wonderment of Verizon FiOS TV... and dump Comcast.

+ BAH emailed me a college football helmet ID quiz. Basically, you get this Excel sheet with 50 college football helmets and you must name the team. I scored 50/50. I didn't find it very hard, but it was fun and the graphics were cool. Then again, I've always been fascinated with college football unis and spent many a Saturday watching College Gameday, college football all day and staying up for the west coast games latenight. LRK scored a respectable 34/50.

Former Marketing Manager About to Become... Masters Champion

So Tiger's out for the year and there's no reason to watch golf anymore. What's a person to do? Well, if you're like me, you become addicted to Wii Sports: Golf. Tiger's heroic US Open victory inspired me, so I started seriously dabbling during the final round and playoff. I love this game. Granted, the game is limited in that you can only play the same 9 holes over and over again, but I don't care. My best round is -8 and I am determined to ace one of the par 3's. I got within 2 feet on hole #2 recently.

Anyway, does anyone know of a golf game for Wii that is exactly like Wii Sports: Golf, but with more or different holes/courses? You'd be doing me a solid if you could point me in the right direction, if there is one. Nintendo should get on that.

K-State of Mind

I started packing for my Kansas trip that commences Sunday. When I say packing, I mean I picked out two shirts so far. They were pretty easy selections:

1. my purple K-State shirt, given to me by the lovely LRH

2. my green "Missouri loves company" tee, featuring Kansas

How could I not pack these shirts?? No one will know I'm from out-of-state!

+ "Alleged" dogfighting masterlowlife Michael Vick indicted, easily becoming my mom's most hated NFL player. The indictment is very damning, and the Feds don't mess around. Doesn't look too good for ol' Michael Pick. I'll add cruel, heartless, sick, gutless, barbaric and unfathomable to the list of words I associate with Vick (previously: overrated, wormburners, overthrows, inconsistent, interceptions, shady, Ron Mexico, herpes and stupid).

+ Nintendo Wii: pwning XBox 360 and PS3 big time. LRH and I are enjoying Wii Sports: Golf these days. I'm not sure why it took me so long to discover the links.

Major League and Wii Baseball...Mostly Wii

You would think the Reds finally canning Jerry Narron (now just deal Dunn!), the discussion of All-Star flubs and snubs (who cares, really?) and Game of Shadows' ever-creeping advance on 755 (bleck) would stir up a perfect storm of baseball fanaticism for an old school baseball fan like me...

Well, I have increased my Wii Sports - Baseball participation recently. Seriously, I'm starting to love this game. I could take bp all day. Just like the days at ol' EC. My Mii "TK" is pretty solid. Last night I went deep on some fool in a 7-1 mercy rule drubbing. On the regular, "TK" is predominantly a line drive hitter - much like the real TK. "TK" is probably sporting a .375-.400 BA.

The real story, however, is a recent Mii addition to me Wii. "LH" is pretty new to the game, but she is a flat-out masher! LRH hasn't actually played Wii baseball yet, but "LH" bats in the two-hole on the "TK" squad. That girl can rip! In her first two games, she was 3 for 4 with a triple, double and single. Taking note, I've been tracking this hot prospect's progress since. "LH" followed up her hot start with games of 1 for 2 (with a double), 2 for 2 and 1 for 3 (with a double). By my calculations, she's hitting at a blistering .636 clip! She just hits lasers, man.

So who is this LRH? And what is she doing with an "LH" Mii? Well, that information may be...forthcoming.

[Update 7/16/07]: Yeah, my new digital camera takes a much improved picture (i.e. the "LH" Mii)
