You Know How I Know You're...

According to Seth Rogan's character, Cal, in the [now] underrated "40 Year-Old Virgin," having an affinity for Coldplay is an indicator that one is gay. His argument was pretty weak, and not supported by any logic, reason or evidence. In all likelihood, he was probably really, really stoned when he said it.

Anyway, I thought they did a great job on "Today," this AM. So screw you, Cal. Yeeaaah.

+ Late-breaking txt from TINWA operative BAH - "I think Usher is on my flight to Baton Rouge... except he is sitting in coach."

I replied, "Maybe it's Shan Foster from Vandy?"

Take Me To Your Leader

Doesn't Russell Robinson (to the right of the Prez) look like an alien?

The Beas is Better

BAH emailed me ESPN.com declaring Tyler Hansbrough POY with the message, "Surprise, surprise."

/sarcasm tag not included, but the quality mockery registered. Anyone who watched "the four letter's" UNC v. Dook coverage last weekend could have deduced their endorsement. Their logic is laughable. Allow me to paraphrase take liberties: "Beasley is clearly more athletic and possesses worlds of more talent, has better stats and is the clear-cut #1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft, but... I'm still giving it to Hansbrough because he works hard."

Aside: talking hard > working hard

Gonzaga coach Mark Few geniunely repeated this sentiment during his interview today on The Jime Rome Show.

I couldn't disagree more.

To morph The Beas' logic to suit my argument, The Beas is better than Hansbrough at home. The Beas is better than Hansbrough at Hansbrough's house. The Beas is better than Hansbrough in Africa. Wherever they are, The Beas is better.

In the end, college POY bears little weight. This shouldn't be post-worthy. POY or not, Beasley will be taking it straigh cash, homey, next year while Beaker will be lucky to occupy the 11th or 12th man spot on a bench in the Association.

A Little Ridiculous

Thanks to PTI chiming in this evening, I am posting this before I wanted to (Friday AM)...

Since it is buried in women's hoops, you might have missed that University of Tennessee star junior Candace Parker announced she will skip her senior season to concentrate on the Olympics and enter the WNBA.

Seriously?

Conventional wisdom says she is playing in front of more people (and probably making more cash) right now at UT than she will (on both fronts) in the WNBA.

Clutch TINWA operative BAH responds, "I think the world has ended, next thing will be Freshman girls wanting to jump. Maybe that 6'8" girl will go straight to the pros! LOL"

I'd Rather be a Blue Jay Than a Keelhauler

Via BAH, the top 10 obscure college nicknames is a good, interesting read that doesn't just gloss over the wacky nickname and leave it at that. There's some backstory.

Both BAH and I were surprised that Wichita State did not make the cut. Certainly if Cobbers is listed, then Shockers deserves consideration. Plus, they have a cool mascot, and well... you know... the other thing.

That's it?! That's the list?! WSU mascot is shocked.

Sidenote: I have experience with one of the schools on the list. Each year while I was ballin' at Elizabethtown, we played the #7 obscurely-nicknamed Rowan University Profs. They were consistently good with solid hitting. The Profs' colors were brown and yellow, like Wichita State. Or the old, superior San Diego Padres unis.

Bonus: My school's nickname: Blue Jays. So... there you go.

Go Jays!
