"Does the lack of any actual tax increases undercut this anti-tax rebellion?"I would also add air quotes around the word "rebellion." The turnouts for these astroturfy events were not exactly stellar.

Presidential Bracket
BHO released his bracket today.
Click the brackets for a closer look. Operative BAH and I briefly discussed. A few thoughts:
+ Who crosses out teams on their bracket?? He does this multiple time, most glaringly having the 'Ville as National Champion, then crossing them out and inserting UNC. Flip-flopper? Bleh.
+ Alabama State over Morehead State in the play-in game - WRONG!
+ BAH was unhappy with BHO giving the Arizona schools zero love. I have 'Zona going to the Sweet 16, but I am with Barry re: ASU. I hope Temple takes out those frauds.
+ Claire McCaskill would not be happy with his abbreviation of Missouri. Or DeMarre Carroll.
+ At least he didn't pick Duke. Reggie Love was probably pressuring him to pick them.
Overall, respect to BHO!
Update (6:12 PM): I just watched the Obama / Katz clip on SportsCenter. BHO actually didn't cross out any teams. And he abbreviated Missouri as "Mizzou" - hmm.
And he said picking against 'Zona had nothing to do with McCain. They "squeaked in" according to Barry. He's not high on the PAC 10, in general.

Ready to Go
I wanted an excuse to post this again and what better reason than today.
I'm fired up! Ready to go!

Fired Up!
Ready to go!
(BO in Manassas, VA last night - H/T TPM) You really need to watch the whole vid (under 5 minutes) to get the story, but the last minute or so will give you a charge.

All across America, something is stirring... I've heard from numerous people today regarding their super positive impressions on the BO infomercial last night. So here it is. Like the Powell endorsement/interview, BO TV definitely warrants repeat viewings:
+ You'd probably like Charles, a BO campaign volunteer who voted for FDR.
+ Like him or not (I happen to like him) Whitlock puts a certain Alaskan VP candidate on BLAST.
+ Some schoolkids in ATL take T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" and turn it into "You Can Vote However You Like." Catchy.

Clarity
100,000 for BO in StL Saturday. (75,000 later in KC)

Wow.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed BO Sunday via Meet the Press. If you can, go watch the sit down with Brokaw. Powell delivers perhaps the most clear, succinct case for voting for BO and against McCain. Do yourself a favor. Afterwards, he was approached by the media and offered some additional excellent commentary:

Ugh
The Hate Talk Express is making a stop in Lancaster Saturday. Why, oh why can't PA receive the same treatment from the McCain mob as Michigan, Maine and Wisconsin? It's over, Johnny. Give up.
Anyway, this time the hate-mongering liar Sarah Palin will be "gracing" Lancaster, PA with her presence at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
As if the Lancaster Barnstormers playing at "the Clip" didn't ensure that I would never set foot in the joint, Sancho Panza's hateful stumping puts the final nail in the coffin.
P.S. Staff report? Can't a brother get a byline??

Hulu, Hyleas and That One
I like Miami's Wild Dolphin formation.
Thanks to hulu for providing an alternative outlet to catch Heroes, since DWt"S" presently occupies the TINWA household tv Monday nights. Hopefully ABC makes Life on Mars available online, too, because I imagine E.R. winning the Thursday night TINWA tv slot after The Office/30 Rock.
Pennlive with a clutch sit-down with Olympic silver medalist heptathlete (and TINWA Who's Now Olympian) Hyleas Fountain. I'd love to be able to score some type of brief interview with Ms. Fountain to feature on this blog. We'll see.
All across America, something is stirring... That line gave me chills when I saw That One deliver it in late August. It's true. Check out the interesting, entertaining and uplifting piece on the people behind BO's ground game.
How about those hate-filled mobs at the McPalin rallies? Disturbing to say the least. (If you're unaware, where have you been? YouTube Strongsville, OH). Not surprising that hate-filled, racist people exist, but that a Senator and Governor would tolerate and encourage such behavior. And make hate and fear the focus of their campaign. Yeesh.
What's next on theStraight Hate Talk Express?
To quote That One (again), "It's easy to rile up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States. The times are too serious. The challenges are too great. The American people aren't looking for someone who can divide this country -- they're looking for someone who will lead it."

Kansas Redux
NOT!
Lolz. Really, I am counting down the time until LRK and I depart for KS this evening. Big time stuff going on. Friday lunch buffet at Pizza Hut. We got Minneapolis High v. Ellsworth High in some Friday night lights. Go Lions! Then we have an afternoon in Manhattan concluding with Kansas State hosting Montana State in some Division I football. Go 'Cats!
Originally, the game was supposed to be against Fresno State, but K-State (wisely) wussed out.
I really enjoy my time in KS, hanging out with LRK and the H's. So I'm going to enjoy my long weekend in KS and make the most of it.
When I return, hopefully I'll have some sort of news to report. Developing...
+ Catch Barry O at my old stomping grounds today!

We Are All Witnesses
Wow. So many times high expectations are met with a disappointing realization. But tonight, Barack Obama not only met expectations, he absolutely destroyed the barrier.Nike totally needs to do an Obama spot following his magnificent masterpiece of an acceptance speech. Something along the lines of the "Witness" campaign. I'm watching it again.
+ I knew there was a reason I like Shawn Johnson. That plucky, firecracker of Americana lead the Pledge of Allegiance tonight at the DNC.

Blue Blazer
I wrote a post promoting Barry O and criticizing geezer (he puts the "old" in same old politics) McCain and his annoying, facetious campaign, but I decided not to post it because I try to keep this blog fun and non-polarizing. But just know I closed said post quoting the classic Owen Hart stating, "I am not a nugget! I'm a blackheart, a sole survivor" "Enough is enough, and it's time for a change!"
+ That being said, the first :20 of the funnyordie/Paris parody is gold:
+ Speaking of quotes...

As a Response, I Feigned Apathy
Wow... tuning into NBC's Wimbledon coverage this morning - the peacock network is really breaking into the hipster music bag. Their opening segment played to The Ting Tings "Great DJ." Then, leading into the break before heading off to the Serena Williams / Bethany Mattek match, they featured M.I.A.'s "Boyz."Is the Freelance Hellraiser coordinating music for NBC's Wimbledon coverage?
+ It's Over, Lady! The NYT's wonderful Maureen Dowd succinctly sums up her day in Unity, NH by offering a glimpse into the idiocy of a few hardcore HRC loyalists, name-dropping former Duke baller/current Barry O body man Reggie Love and painting a picture of Bill Clinton's current mindset that made me think of an infant with soiled drawers.
