Radio Choices

On the radio, when you have the choice between listening to a classic (David Bowie - "Moonage Daydream") or a song you currently like (Jordin Sparks - "Battlefield") ALWAYS choose the classic. After Bowie, I was rewarded with GnR's "Sweet Child of Mine" and John Lennon's "Watching the Wheels" - nice!

Will You Be There

Jennifer Hudson performing "Will You Be There" today at the Michael Jackson Memorial. My favorite performance from the event.

Weinstock

+ Suckers.

+ Congrats to USC head coach Pete Carroll on becoming a grandpa (via my facebook friend-age).

+ I really need to download the songs sitting in my iTunes shopping cart.

+ LRK and I hit the tax man last Saturday. Weinstock. He was a Pitt fan/alum. Pitt has fans? (that was for Flood). Flood would have liked the guy.

I like him, because we're getting some money back.

Red Rain

What the heck.

Awesome.

+ Judge Dredd Judd Gregg is a big d-bag. Good riddance. I don't know why BHO nominated that doofus, anyway.

What Are You Changing?

It's New Year's Eve. Any resolutions?

Wrestlers

H/T XPN. Cruising around Wednesday night, heard this classic.

Everyone knows Monday night means wrestling.

Yes, and now it's on the iPod.

Momentous

I mailed the "payoff amount" check last week, but my one college loan provider reflected today my account was "paid in full." Granted, I still have another (more vicious) college loan outstanding, but I officially paid off the easier, more manageable one. Yay! It feels good.

+ WXPN providing my office soundtrack keeps paying off. Not only have I caught MGMT's "Time to Pretend" (blogged about already) a few times, but I'm really digging the Ben Folds ditty "You Don't Know Me" featuring Regina Spektor.

Office Radio

I enjoy reading Brett's work radio posts. I am now in the same boat. I started a new job two weeks ago and occupy a space where one radio serves me and four other employees.

The first week was heavy on Warm 103. I am not a fan of the corny Kelly West morning show, but I quite like their all 80's lunch.

Recently, the dial switched to WXPN out of Harrisburg (via Philly). I love this station and its wide variety of music and NPR news updates. Yesterday, I heard "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. XPN delivers a diverse selection of old and new music in many genres. I'll certainly vouch.

As a Response, I Feigned Apathy

Wow... tuning into NBC's Wimbledon coverage this morning - the peacock network is really breaking into the hipster music bag. Their opening segment played to The Ting Tings "Great DJ." Then, leading into the break before heading off to the Serena Williams / Bethany Mattek match, they featured M.I.A.'s "Boyz."

Is the Freelance Hellraiser coordinating music for NBC's Wimbledon coverage?

+ It's Over, Lady! The NYT's wonderful Maureen Dowd succinctly sums up her day in Unity, NH by offering a glimpse into the idiocy of a few hardcore HRC loyalists, name-dropping former Duke baller/current Barry O body man Reggie Love and painting a picture of Bill Clinton's current mindset that made me think of an infant with soiled drawers.

You Know How I Know You're...

According to Seth Rogan's character, Cal, in the [now] underrated "40 Year-Old Virgin," having an affinity for Coldplay is an indicator that one is gay. His argument was pretty weak, and not supported by any logic, reason or evidence. In all likelihood, he was probably really, really stoned when he said it.

Anyway, I thought they did a great job on "Today," this AM. So screw you, Cal. Yeeaaah.

+ Late-breaking txt from TINWA operative BAH - "I think Usher is on my flight to Baton Rouge... except he is sitting in coach."

I replied, "Maybe it's Shan Foster from Vandy?"

Some Tunes

Sunday evening, I took a break from my usual routine of downloading songs off the internet for free.99 to re-visit the iTunes Music Store and peruse. I actually bought a few tunes...with my still leftover gift card money from 2 birthdays ago. These songs were in my head for awhile, and I never got tired of them. So I just had to buy. Anyway, I thought I'd list them:

Dixie Chicks - Not Ready to Make Nice
The Game - Wouldn't Get Far
The Sounds - Song With A Mission

I still need to see Shut Up and Sing, too. There are a number of movies I need to catch up on. I tried to get down with a little Doom over the weekend, but I had to eat dinner and missed all of the action. I have seen The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine (again) - respect. I also was unfortunate enough to catch most of Land of the Dead Monday night. Ugh! I'm a sucker for zombie movies, but LotD was horrible. Movies in the theaters I'd like to see include Reno 911, Breach and Pan's Labyrinth.
