Huffington Post suggests giving a book or two as a gift this Christmas to help save the publishing industry. They wrangle some "media elites" to offer recommendations.
Well, I'm happy to say I did my part. And I was ahead of the curve. I purchased a book to give as a gift a few days ago. Albeit a birthday gift - not Christmas. But, this person's birthday is in February, so... win/win?
Also, can I get a ruling on adding a third "win"?

Blue Blazer
I wrote a post promoting Barry O and criticizing geezer (he puts the "old" in same old politics) McCain and his annoying, facetious campaign, but I decided not to post it because I try to keep this blog fun and non-polarizing. But just know I closed said post quoting the classic Owen Hart stating, "I am not a nugget! I'm a blackheart, a sole survivor" "Enough is enough, and it's time for a change!"

+ Speaking of quotes...

Overheard at Volleyball
LRK was in a volleyball tournament Saturday. Her team shared their canopy with another team that neglected to bring a canopy or tent. They were nice enough. At the end of pool play and before the playoffs started, the teams were resting and chatting under the canopy. A few of the girls were enjoying some trail mix. One of the girls - on the other team - was espousing the goodness of trail mix, and her fondness for nuts.
"I love to have nuts in my mouth," she explained (awkwardly).
I started smiling, and a feeling of amusement began bubbling in the pit of my soul, effervescing up my body into my mouth.
"That's what she said!" I exclaimed.
Thank you, Michael Scott.

The OfficeCon
Angela and Kevin were in Scranton on Saturday and I was not aware?? On another note, anyone interested in going to The Office Convention in Scranton Oct. 26-28? I imagine it will be worth waiting for and very satisfying.[...that's what she said!]
Seriously, I'm planning on heading up to Electric City for at least a day.
Woohoo! I officially sent in my registration tonight for the Fresh Burst Listerine 5-Mile run/5K walk. You know, the event with the racing Listerine bottles logo I like. In the past, I opted to walk the 5K. This always frustrated me, although I freely admit I wouldn't have been able to run the three or five miles. Well this year I am flipping the script. I'm going to run the five miles. I am relishing the training and really excited and looking forward to the event. My (modest) goal is to run the five miles in under 50 minutes. Hopefully my friend A-Philly and her boyfriend will be there to run with me.

Walk the Line
+ You know the NBA season is right around the corner when...Stephen Jackson fires (gun)shots in fight outside strip club.
+ The Office was great last night. I may have to join a Call to Duty group...or start one at my office? Yeah right. Michael's "hug it out, b*tch" Entourage reset was classic. Do I smell a little romance brewing betwixt Jim and Karen? Does that guy ever meet chicks he's interested in outside of work?

The Office Day: The Day After
In an O-Day post comment, Brett wondered if "That's what she said. Or he said," will be the new "Not that there's anything wrong with that." Well, if Entertainment Weekly has anything to say about it - yes.
They didn't ruin The Office with a Jim and Pam romance. They balanced the absence of Jim in Scranton with a Stanford office of characters to keep Jim company and me laughing.
Ed Helms is an instant classic. How many quotable lines did he deliver? And his reaction to the calculator in the jello - very funny.
And 8 comments (and counting?) on my O-Day post. Wow! That made me feel good, too. I need to hit iTunes when I get home and buy the season 3 premiere. I thought it was that darn good. Plus, I don't have a DVR.

For Brett.
