No McLouth, No Peace

Saturday TF, BS and I made our annual trek to Steel City Pittsburgh to catch another Braves v. Buccos barnburner. But first... we stopped by the Duquesne Incline and hit the upper station at Grandview Avenue where I snapped some quality pics of the 'burgh's golden triangle:

We saw Chuck "Chucky" James take the hill for the Braves for the second year in a row. I also saw Mr. 3000 1B Mark Texiera hit a two-run bomb. Sadly, Nate McLouth did not play. Boo! But, at least I learned how to correctly pronounce his name.

+ Eat your hearts out Lancaster and York hucksters! Perusing the Patriot-News Sunday sports, I spotted an urgent Meat Hook alert for the greater City Island area:
Washington Nationals All-Star 1B Dmitri Young is headed to Harrisburg for a rehab assignment, according to Nationals GM Jim Bowden. Beginning with Tuesday's home game against Reading, Bowden says Young will play first base for the Senators as he recovers from a sprained lower back that's kept him on the disabled list since early April.
I relayed this info to LRHK and we are set to catch a Meat Hook-infused Sens lineup Tuesday or Wednesday evening. I'll also likely catch the Sens' Thursday afternoon game.

+ The P-N keeps on giving. Nice story by Andrew Linker on the June 2002 trade that sent Bartolo Colon from Cleveland to les Expos for three Senators prospects. Who, you may ask?? ... ready?

Brandon Phillips, Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee. Wow.

Sizemore has gone on to become a two-time All-Star centerfielder, Phillips should have been an All-Star shortstop the past two seasons (with Cincinnati), and Lee has won his first six starts this year with a bananas ERA of 0.81.

Meanwhile, Colon is now some fat man with a broken-down arm, attempting a comeback with Boston's AAA affiliate in Pawtucket.

I'd imagine the Island will be abuzz about Young's appearance, much like when the Ace of Diamonds Tony Armas, Jr. rolled into town.

Also, what would it take to get the Ohio, Allegheny and Monogahela to sit next to a piano?
