This weekend brings downtown Lancaster's Spring ArtWalk weekend, which is all fine and good. I like the arts. I haven't checked out much of it, but it gave me an idea today. Back in 2001, I was at the Farm Show perusing the merch. I passed the PLCB's booth and something really caught my eye. That year (and possibly other years) the PLCB was featuring poster reproductions of PA high schooler's artwork from the PLCB's 1998-99 Alcohol Awareness Education Program. For me, this one poster was just top of the pops. It featured a brunette girl - think The Hills-ish look - in a world of hurt, crouched before the porcelain goddess with a few beer bottles scattered at her feet. The message: "Think Drinking Is Cool? How Cool Is This?!!" So clutch! The artist was Stephanie Frost, an 11th grader (at the time) at Holidaysburg Area High School. I'd post a picture to accompany, but I don't have a USB cord for my cell phone.
Anyway, seeing that the reprint is over six years old, it's been through a lot, but still looks flawless. I saw a number of people today walking around with framed art, so I thought I should really buy a frame for my favorite poster. So, I headed to the neighborhood Michael's and purchased said frame on the cheap. It looks great, and I have it prominently displayed. Thanks, Lancaster ArtWalk patrons.
