Overheard at Volleyball

LRK was in a volleyball tournament Saturday. Her team shared their canopy with another team that neglected to bring a canopy or tent. They were nice enough.

At the end of pool play and before the playoffs started, the teams were resting and chatting under the canopy. A few of the girls were enjoying some trail mix. One of the girls - on the other team - was espousing the goodness of trail mix, and her fondness for nuts.

"I love to have nuts in my mouth," she explained (awkwardly).

I started smiling, and a feeling of amusement began bubbling in the pit of my soul, effervescing up my body into my mouth.

"That's what she said!" I exclaimed.
