K-State = Penn State

If ever there was a team as frustrating to watch as Penn State, it is the Wildcats of K-State.

Caught most of the K-State v. Iowa State affair via Versus Saturday afternoon. Yes, I even eschewed Penn State v. Purdue for the most part (although it was nice to see Derrick Williams turn in a performance worthy of being named the #1-ranked recruit in 2004).

When K-State was not getting robbed of a touchdown by a phantom out-of-bounds call, they were shooting themselves in the foot. How can a 6' 6" 250-lb young Daunte Culpepper not bulldoze 6 inches on 4th and goal to score a potential key 4th quarter touchdown? Why not spread the ISU defense in the first place? A little spread offense QB draw would have been nice. Or a rollout to put some pressure on the D?

It also does not help when receivers not named Jordy Nelson are dropping passes, or stone-handing well-thrown balls right into the hands of an ISU defender (like what Gonzalez did late in the 4th, sealing KSU's loss).

And Iowa State ran over the Wildcat's undersized defense for much of the day. When K-State needed a stop, they couldn't get it. Overall, a frustrating experience, especially considering ISU was 1-8 entering the game and K-State needed a victory to become bowl-eligible.

Well, at least Penn State beat Purdue.
