Final Four v. Movie Night

As people are aware, this evening is the Final Four. Tip-off for Georgetown/Ohio State actually occurs in under an hour. Tonight is also the night three respective networks broadcast movies I've seen (Saw, 9:00 PM, Sci-Fi), seen part of (Mean Girls, 8:00 and 10:00 PM, TNT) or would like to see (Slither, 10:00 PM, Cinemax). Is it wrong of me to actually prefer viewing some or all of the movies over the Final Four? Because right now that is the case.

Some of my desire is a response to very unnecessary and borderine annoying hyping of the tournament, specifically someone's $0 tournament pool. I mean, give it a rest. In the end, no one really has a horse in the race in a pool it cost free.99 to enter. End of rant. Anyway, given that Saw is on broadcast cable (editing), I'd go with Mean Girls and Slither for tonight's viewing. It would work out perfectly. I'd really like to see Slither. I heard it is pretty decent.

+ Sign that I'm both looking sharp and living smart: went to Circuit City today and made a bee line to the HDTVs. I have my eye on two 32" models. Anyway, after making it pretty obvious that I was interested in one or two tvs - even going as far as asking one of the store associates a question related to the sets - I couldn't get any of the sharky salespeople to wait on me. I guess they thought I was too young and couldn't afford them. Ha! Ohs well, maybe I'll have to take a roadtrip to Reading Best Buy tomorrow.

+ Congrats to Serena Williams on her hard-fought victory today. I watched part of the match and a good deal of the crowd was against her...in Miami...against some Henin euro. Good grief! I've always liked Serena. She (and her sister) catch a lot of guff on the tour from fans and players for a lot of crappy reasons (black, hetero, dominant, outspoken father). I like when she wins, so she can stick it to all the people that were against her for stupid reasons.

+ Flood and I were just talking last night about the basketball recruiting enigma that is Herb Pope. Then this morning Flood sends me an email with a link saying Pope was shot last night. Hope he's feeling better soon. Reggie Theus is certainly saying a prayer. [via Flood]

are these annoying comments coming from the other person in our $0 pool? i'm curious to hear some of the comments that were made.
i listened to the beginning of "muscle and flow" but i had the volume down so low on my computer it really wasn't an actual "listen." the bit that i heard, i liked though.

Bingo!

Okay, I was going out to LNT, grocery store and Circuit City. He goes, "Basketball starts around 6:30, so make sure you get your @$$ back by then!" Who cares? And that's annoying.

Another one, we assembled for dinner (I was on the computer). It's halftime of Gtown/OSU. He says, "Low scoring game, huh, Todd?' I was like, "What's the score? I'm on the computer." Then he's like, "Oh he's so nervous about Georgetown, he can't stand to watch the game!" First, although I picked Gtown and they are/were my favorite team out of the Final Four, my life does not depend on the game. It's not like Cincinnati (Huggins era) is playing. It's not that big of a deal. Jeez!

Those are two instances. We all watched the games together, from the second half of OSU/Gtown on. It was just sort of annoying getting a question or comment every minute or 30 seconds of each game.

I envied you.
