I Work in Cable, You Know

So my company's "Comcast Career Fair" was today. It was a chance for the looming industry giant to soften the blow of unemployment for some of my company's employees (including me) who weren't offered Comcastic jobs. For those who didn't attend, below, please find my notes taken from the event:

- Overview of Comcast -- seems sort of like a commercial/pitch
  • We WORK in cable, we sort of know about this stuff...
  • DVR can do that? REALLY?!?
- Corporate -> Corporate -> Corporate -> Division -> Region -> System

Jennifer Brink

VP Eastern Region
Dir. Org. Dev./Recruitment
  • narrow focus
  • liked my resume
  • research training-related positions?
- bugrudgingly email "thank you's"

It started off badly, as they reinforced every view I hold of a Comcast employee. But the career fair did get progressively better as I was able to get some face time with 3 out of the 4 recruiters. In all, the career fair was sub-okay. Time will tell if any of the seeds I planted will bloom. Gawd, I hate corporate-ish cliches!! Ugh! Anyway, I have my doubts, but you never know.
