Isiah
trades for Stevie Malignancy, completes plans for
Bunim-Murray reality show: This is the true story, of four ball hogs, picked to appear on a basketball court, not "play the right way", make the life of Larry Brown miserable, and hold back young talent, to find out what happens, when players stop being polite, and start getting real. The New York Knicks!

I've done a bit of a 180 on the Francis trade since my initial reactions last night for the following reasons:
1) The Knicks are the worst team in the East, record-wise. Why not give it a shot? Even if this isn't the most sensible blending of talent, there's a good chance they'll win a better percentage of their games. And player-wise, they gave up nearly nothing to try it out.
2) One of the knocks on this deal is that Isiah traded away expiring contracts. Do we know if having these types of expiring contracts really helps a team turn the corner any quicker or any more successfully than the teams that don't? Sure the theory sounds good, but I remember when the Bulls cleared space to court coveted free agents (Tracy McGrady in particular) a few years ago and ended up with squat. Might be a good research project.
The Knicks might as well give it a shot, nothing else is working for them. But if I'm going to buy and sell the two teams involved, I'm buying Orlando and still selling the Knicks. I like what Orlando is building.
My thing is with what Francis, Marbury, Rose and Curry will do to Larry Brown and the NYK's young talent. Brown is still one of the top 5 coaches in the Association, but he has health concerns and is a big flake to begin with.
Consensus around the Association is that Frye, Lee and Robinson can play. I'd rather not see them being corrupted by a bunch of ball-hogging, career non-winners.
Oh well, it's Isiah and the Knicks.
