You Better Call Tyrone

Earlier this week, I heard some buzz regarding Tyrone Prothro's injury Saturday. Prothro, a prolific WR/KR/PR for the U of Alabama, landed awkwardly and broke his leg in two places trying to make a catch during the 4th quarter of 'Bama's 31-3 defeat of Florida.

The injury was described as incredibly sick and Theisman-esque. You know it's bad when a local paper headlines an article quoting your surgeon that you "should play again." I spent a portion of Wednesday afternoon looking for a video clip or pic of the Prothro injury. Unfortunately, I did locate a snapshot. It is definitely disturbing. I'm not going to post or link to it, but if you're Internet-savy enough, you'll be able to find it. Below is the aftermath:

Here's hoping to a full and speedy recover to the triple-threat with sick skills and a cool last name. Get healthy, Tyrone.

On a brighter note, how about the job Mike Piazza is doing in the ESPN booth providing color for the Sox-Sawx series?! Piazza delivers a fresh perspective and a hip, current vibe to the game. He brings the dugout and the clubhouse atmosphere and chatter into the living room. And he makes Chris Berman almost half-tolerable. Piazza gets full respect for his work in the booth.

So the NHL returned last night, all-hyping its new rules and newfangled ideas. I tuned in. Looks like the same, old NHL to me. Low scoring, lots of penalities - Zzzzzzzz...

I guess I half have to pay attention since I'm in a fantasy league

Oh yeah, both Lost and Invasion we're quality eps last night. I'm slowly warming to the idea of becoming a fan of Lost again. I'm a little hesitant, though, because I still remember how frustrating the show was last year (and ABC didn't do it any favors with its erratic schedule).
