Expectations

SMC held hostage: day 41-ish. After weeks of being on "expect a sale announcement any day now" alert, the SMC sale agreement process has officially hit a snag. According to sources, Sus and Com were ready to sign the agreement yesterday (10/25), but at the last minute someone at Sus (taking bets as to who) discovered some tax language in the agreement that would have greatly benefited Com. Mind you, both parties had been reviewing the agreement for weeks. So now the Board wants to bring Com back to the bargaining table. Good luck with that, fellas. Anyway, the new latest is "expect something in 1-2 weeks."

What is dragging on longer: the CIA leak probe, a typical NBA season or the current Major League Baseball season and playoffs? I vote MLB (with the CIA leak probe finishing a close second). There is no way MLB should still be playing in late October. Reduce the monstrous season to 154 games and make sure the final out is recorded by mid-October. October 15 should be the day a hypothetical game seven of the World Series takes place. Baseball has lost too much buzz to the NFL and college football. I could care less who won the pennants and who will win the World Series. Enough! Just get it over with.
